Some Ideas On What Else You Can Do With A Blog Other Than Blogging
posted by: SteveIf you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
Written By Steven Porter
What I have been writing so far is on how to create a conventional blog. You write anything that you like in your blog and monetize it using pay per click advertisement such as Adsense, or selling affiliate products related to your topics. However, a blog can actually be used for many other purposes. I will roughly explain some ideas that I think you might be interested in.
1) BANS – Build A Niche tore
Firstly, a blog can be used as a BANS. If you are not familiar with the term BANS, it is basically mini site selling products from eBay or Amazon. The site is automated because it can take the feed directly from eBay or Amazon. You can easily create a BANS using a wordpress blog and some plug-ins. BANS is very easy to earn some good money given that you know how to SEO your BANS and you are able to find a good niche. If you are promoting eBay goods, you will be able to earn $25 for every new eBay member (they are required to bid at least once within 7 days of registration) and commission from the transaction fee. However, I suggest that you can sell some high value products so that you can earn more commission.
2) Affiliated Product Landing Page
Some people use a blog as a landing page for product. They can either post some reviews of the product with a cloaked link to the sales pages or write some good posts to attract more people to opt-in to the newsletter or subscribe to the RSS feed. Blog is a very good landing page because it gives the visitors an appearance that it is created by a “neutral” and real person. Therefore, this can increase the thrust of the visitors and the credibility of your product. Besides, Google loves fresh content. Blog means a platform for regularly updated content. Therefore, you can easily get high rank for some low competitive keywords, given that you update your blog regularly.
3) A Blog Merely To Get High PR And Sell Links And Blog Post
LOL, the name is pretty long. Basically, this is a kind of blog that people created just to achieve a high PR and then sell some sponsored links and blog post linking to other people’s website. You can see this method being widely used at Digitalpoint Forum. I’m not really into this because I find that the return of investment is very low as it is very time consuming. Therefore, I does not research deeply into this area too.
In conclusion, you can actually find more ways to earn money using your blogs. Just keep in mind that it is pretty vital to get some good targeted traffic before you can see a sale. Therefore, I recommend everyone to at least learn some SEO techniques such as keyword research, how to write proper title tag before really get into the world of blogging.

How To Inject Personality and Individuality into Your Blog
posted by: Steve
Written By Steven Porter
In a previous article, I have talked about the importance of showing your personality and individuality in all your posts. I have also covered why they are so important. Now, I will like to share some tips and information on how to make YOUR own blog. Of course, I mean a blog that can only be created by you. I will give some examples of famous blogs here.
Firstly, let us take one of the most famous blogger – John Chow as an example. If you have visited his blog before, you will realize that he loves to write about what he ate and some delicacies that he loves. You might think that people who are visiting a “how to earn money” blog are not interested in those side, futile information. However, surprisingly, there are actually many people who comment on the food too. Why is that so? The answer is, by writing what you like or what is happening around you, you visitors actually know you more and feel that this blog is very friendly. If your visitors have similar interest, they will think, “Wow, Steve actually has the same interest as me too, I think we might be able to be friend.” So, automatically, they will comment on your post and hope that they can know you more. Of course, as a result, they will return and visit your blog in the future.
Secondly, besides identifying and branding yourself through writing your interest, you can actually brand yourself as someone who anti something. What do I mean here is you can let other people know that you hate something. Then, you can write posts to criticize that particular thing. If you posts are reasonable, you should be able to attract some visitors who think the same way too. However, do keep in mind you might lose a portion of visitors too. Yet, I feel that this is a good way to brand yourself.
Lastly and the most importantly, you can brand yourself as someone who produces unique and good information. Instead of copying other people’s idea and rewrite them, you should come out with your own ideas. For instance, if you are an affiliate marketer who are experimenting on Adwords, then you can write your journal on your experiment. People who want first hand information will come to you naturally. You will be surprised that by providing some revolutionary idea, you will suddenly have many new visitors and feed subscribers.
In conclusion, there are actually many ways you can brand yourself, for instance writing about your pet et cetera. However, I shall not give you all the examples and limit your imagination. What I’m providing here is just some basic ideas for you to generate your own ideas using your own creativity.

PageRank is a numeric value that represents how important a page is on the web. Google figures that if one webpage links to another webpage, it is voting for that webpage. The more links that point to a webpage, the more important that webpage must be. Also, the importance of the page that is linking determines how important the vote itself is. Google calculates a page’s importance from the votes cast for it. How important each vote is is taken into account when a page’s PageRank is calculated.
PageRank is Google’s way of deciding a page’s importance. It matters because it is one of the factors that determines a page’s ranking in the search results. It isn’t the only factor that Google uses to rank pages, but it is an important one.
“What Dose Google Have To Say about PageRank”
How can I improve my site’s ranking?
Sites’ positions in our search results are determined based on a number of factors designed to provide end-users with helpful, accurate search results. These factors are explained in more detail at http://www.google.com/technology/index.html.
In general, webmasters can improve the rank of their sites by increasing the number of high-quality sites that link to their pages. For more information about improving your site’s visibility in the Google search results, we recommend reviewing our webmaster guidelines. They outline core concepts for maintaining a Google-friendly website.

Blogging To Make A Profit Starts With a Long Term Plan
posted by: Steve
Many people dream of blogging for profit, and this goal
is not far beyond the reach of someone with average
intelligence, a willingness to work hard, and a basic
grasp of blogging technology. However, very few
people manage to reap the profits they want from their
blog. Most people who attempt to make money with
their blogs do not succeed for two reasons. Often,
bloggers have unrealistic expectations of how fast their
readership will grow and how much money they will
make, and when these expectations are not met the
disappointment can crush the desire to continue
blogging. The other trap that many bloggers fall into
has to do with lack of planning. If you want to turn a
profit as a blogger, the key to success is to make a
realistic plan and stick with it.
To succeed at blogging for profit, the main thing that
you will need is a large readership. The higher your
traffic, the more advertisers will agree to pay you.
However, cultivating the regular visitors that you will
need in order to make a profit isnt easy. As more and
more blogs appear each day, having a great idea or a
wonderful writing style is no longer enough to get
attention. You need to be able to market your blog
effectively.
Too many bloggers spend all of their time writing posts
and almost no time marketing their project. To be
certain, updating as often as you can is a great way to
keep your blog high on blogrolls and high in blog
search engines like technorati, and once your readers
know that you update frequently they will return to your
site on a regular basis. However, it does not matter how
often you update if nobody is reading your page, so dont
skimp on the time that you spend drawing visitors to
your site. To make your dreams of blogging for profit a
reality, try decreasing your number of posts and using
some of that time to draw new visitors by setting up
link exchanges with other bloggers, making contacts in
the blog community, and following other established
modes of winning traffic.
Of course, even if you are a marketing genius or have a
really great idea for a blog, success is not going to
happen overnight. Building the kind of readership that
blogging for profit requires takes time, and in all
likelihood it will be at least several months before you
are able to turn much of a profit. Try to stay committed
to your blogging project during this initial rough period.
To stay motivated, set goals for how often you will
update and how many readers you want to attract, and
then reward yourself for sticking with your plan

What Can You Do To Increase Your Blog’s Popularity and Individuality
posted by: Steve
What Can You Do To Increase Your Blog’s Popularity and Individuality
Hello, I’m back. I’m really sorry for keeping you to wait for so long. I have some personal problems recently, but don’t worry, I have sorted those problems out, and now, as usual, I’m going to provide some good tips on how to create a good blog. Today, I will cover how can you increase your blog’s popularity and individuality and hopefully, it can create a viral effect to generate more traffic.
Firstly, what is viral effect? (I’m sorry, all Internet marketer experts, please bear with me because I hope that I can provide a holistic information to all my visitors). Viral effect comes from the word “virus”. A virus will spread to large area. So, when I’m talking about viral effect, it means that your blog will be promoted by other people and extend the reach of your audience. It really sounds great if there are people promoting your blog for you right? So, how can we do it?
In my opinion, what you will need at first place is definitely good content. If your content is great and people like your content, they will automatically submit or vote your articles. Logically, you will get more visitors. People have been talking about getting onto the first page of Digg and received many visitors. How do they do it? The sole answer is – Good and high quality content. You will realize that it is hard for a website to get onto the first page of Digg or other social media sites, I would like to tell you, yes it is indeed very hard! Original and unique content is hard to find. Some people may think that their articles are perfect, but they have never realized that there are thousands of similar articles out there. If this is the problem, how can you make your article stands out among the others?
The answer revealed – Individuality. The individuality that I am talking here consists of your writing style and the way you present your information. For instance, any Tom, Dick or Harry can explain how to write a blog to you, however, have you ever find that they are very monotonous and dull? If so, then you should ask yourself, if you were given a chance to tell a story, will your story attract other people and how can you attract more people.
Personal writing style is really very important when it comes to attracting people. You should combine authoritative tones to increase your credibility and the thrust of the visitors, but at the same time, you must also be friendly enough to make the visitors feel comfortable. A good and unique writing style does not come easily, you will need to practice, practice and practice. Thrust me, mastering this skill, will definitely benefit you in the long time. We will be covering topics on how to include your personality and individuality in your articles next time, so stay tune and hope that you enjoy my articles.

What makes blogging so different about traditional publishing platforms is that it allows visitor interaction - interaction between the blog owner and the visitors as well as interaction amongst visitors.
As a blog owner, you can exert a specific amount of influence on the conversation but you can’t control it entirely. Visitors are free to post their feedback and opinions - good or bad.
While you hope everyone agrees with your content, very often visitors will use your blog as a platform for venting their frustration. This can sometimes be a distinct disadvantage to you as a blogger.
Creating original and interesting content is hard enough. Dealing with the responses to that content is another matter altogether.
Knowing that bad, and good can and will be posted is important. Important enough that you ishould work out a plan to deal with all types before you make your first post.
As a blog owner, there are three typical ways that you can choose to deal with blog comments. You can choose to reply to comment, block certain visitors from posting future comments, or delete comments.
Replying to Comments on Your Blog
Under normal circumstances it is more advantageous to reply on your blog. Why? Because that’s the point of the blog, to interact with and respond to visitors. Having open communication is a good thing.
You should always reply to a positive comment, thanking the visitor. Sometimes people just want to know you pay attention.
Negative ones are a little trickier. There are two types of negative comments. There are those which I call dialog starters and those that are rude, vulgar, or downright not very nice.
Someone who posts a dialog starter may disagree with what you say, add important points that you may have missed, or state that you’re completely wrong. These types are great. No mud slinging involved. You can choose to debate the comments, point by point, or make a small rebuttal and take the conversation offline.
While some bloggers seem to enjoy nasty, negative comments, I believe otherwise. Here’s why. If you have great content and you’ve managed to connect with your visitors, one bad comment can ruin the whole party, especially if they are vulgar. You’re better off deleting these comments.
Blocking Adverse Comments from Visitors
Negative comments, if made in the right spirit can be used as a basis for improvement. However, when negative comments get out of hand, it’s better to ban that visitor from posting comments on your blog altogether.
I always like to give visitors the benefit of the doubt. Give them fair warning and then shut them down. There’s good, healthy interaction and then there’s nonsense. You don’t have to put up with the nonsense, even as a blogger.
Deleting Posts
All blog software, free and paid, gives you the ability to delete comments. If you’re paranod about comments, make visitors register before they can post. Then, don’t allow posts to appear until you’ve moderated them. This method is a little more time-consuming but should remove your “comment” fears.

Okay, it is easy to start a blog, you can just register at any free blogging platform, and start posting in your blog. However, your blog will be useless if you have no traffic at all. It is very difficult to get the initial traffic for a new blog because your new blog has little content, and of course you will not be able to optimize you blog for certain keywords to get high ranking in Google, if you do so, your content will look spammy, and Google does not like this at all. You can check out more about SEO for a blog in my precious post : How To Increase Traffic To Your Blog. So, how can you get the initial traffic for a new blog? That is the sole question of all new started blogs, and here, I am going to give some tokens of advice. The easiest way to get some traffic in the beginning is to write a couple of articles which are very interesting and attracting. The articles can be very bizarre, or humorous, everyone likes this kind of articles. Make sure that the post title is stunning and is able to catch attention. By writing these articles, you will get the people to read your entire articles, if they like your posts, they will of course return in the future. So, you will get more returning visits in the future. The best place to promote your interesting and attracting articles as aforementioned is at social media such as Digg, Stumble Upon, Technorati, Reddit, Netscape, Propeller, Del.icio.us et cetera. You can use this http://socialposter.com/ to submit your posts to these social media. Again, make sure that your title is very interesting, only by doing this, people will visit your blog to read that particular post. Of course, most people will say that traffic from social media is useless because people will only stay at your site or at your blog for 1 second, then they will leave. However, I would like to tell you the truth that if your articles are genuine and interesting, the people will definitely stay and continue reading. People who are usually complaining that social media does not provide good traffic is because they are providing duplicated or boring articles. I would not want to read boring articles, so do the visitors. Lastly, make sure that you install social bookmarker plug in and ask your visitors to bookmark the articles as a gesture of support if they like your articles. By doing this, your visitors are actually helping you to promote your blog in other social media. The more people who bookmarked your blog, the more exposure your blog will receive, which will ultimately generate more traffic in the future. In conclusion, social media is indeed a very good place to get the initial traffic, however make sure that your articles are interesting enough to attract these people. |
