The top commentators widget is a sidebar widget to show the top commentators in your blog.  Now for you to start getting traffic to your blog this is what to do.

Search for blogs with lots of traffic and a PR rating of 3 or more. Then look for the top commentators widget and see who is at the top of that list and see how many comments are left by that person, if its 10 comments then you need to leave 11 comments but don’t do 11 comments in one day, look to see the last person on the list and again see how many comments they left most likely 3 0r 4 so try to get on the bottom of the list to start.

Now lets say you do this on 10 blogs that have a hi PR rating,  you can start getting 30 to 40 visitors a day to your blog, thats not bad for free and 15 min of work. Now if you can get to the top of ten blogs, that 30 or 40 is now 100+ per day.

Check out www.johnchow.com  on his top commentators list the top spot has left 56 comments and the least is 20.          JohnChow.com gets 200,000 visitors to his blog every month, he made $38,000 dollars last month!! No Joke so if you can get your blog to the top of the top commentators list the visitors can be in the hundreds of visitors to your blog all for free.

If you go to www.wordpress.org/extend/plugins/

Here is how to download and install the top commentators plugin for wordpress 2.5 and above.

  1. Unzip to get the topcommentators_widget.php file.
  2. Upload the file into the wp-content/plugins folder.
  3. In your WP admin console, go to Plugins and activate Top Commentators Widget.
  4. In your WP admin console, go to Design | Widgets and click Add beside the Top Commentators widget.
  5. Click Edit on the Top Commentators then scroll down and click Change.
  6. Drag the Top Commentators to wherever you want it to be, and click the Save Changes button if you want to stick to the default values.
  7. That’s it!

This is a simple way to get traffic to your blog and just think if you were to do this every day for a year, that is a lot of free visitors and you can check the stats with your hosting account to see where your last 100 visitors came from so you can see what blog is sending you the most visitors.

Embarking on an Internet marketing campaign doesn’t have to be difficult, tricky, or complicated. Here are a few simple ways (twenty in fact) that you can easily implement to get tons of traffic to your site right now!

1) Write articles: believe it or not this is an incredible tool for driving traffic. Well-written, relevant articles can net quite a bit of activity to your web site. Don’t forget to add your URL in your byline. Articles should be 500 to 2,000 words in length. You can send articles to sites like: Article City, GoArticles, Submit Your Articles and Ezine Articles.

2) Social bookmark *everything* - and I do mean everything - you can bookmark each page of your site and each blog entry you post. While this might seem tedious, it’s worth it. You’ll see a strong increase in traffic if you social bookmark each page on your site and each of your blog entries.

3) List yourself in the best directories – you’ll have to pay for this but since most people don’t do this (since everyone’s looking for a freebie) you could really enhance your traffic by getting a listing: dir dot yahoo dot com, business dot org, botw dot org.

4) Get yourself listed at: DMOZ dot org – it’s not easy to get listed there, but worth the effort.

5) Review: if you can review hot new products or books within your market, head on over to Amazon and start positioning yourself as an expert. In order to do this effectively you’ll want to create an Amazon profile and make sure and sign each review with a reference to your URL (your web site). You can also go to Epinions and Revoo to review products as well.

6) Offer a freebie on Craig’s List: you’ll be amazed at how much traffic you get from a single Craig’s List ad. The key here is to send people to a page on your site and make sure they have to sign up for something (like your email newsletter) before they can grab their freebie. That way you’re not just getting traffic, you’re also building your list.

7) Create a “recommended by” list on your Delicious page – you can do this by logging on and creating an account and there and then tagging articles, blogs and other content you think is important to your readership. Then offer this page as a resource site. You can add a link to this page in your email signature line or on your web site.

8) And speaking of your email signature line… do you have one? If you don’t, create one. Believe it or not, people do follow these links. You’ll be amazed how many folks read email signature lines. I have one and change it several times a year, depending on what we’re doing or promoting or what books I have coming out.

9) Lend a helping hand: you can be an answer person at Yahoo Answers – you don’t have to spend hours on there, but maybe a few minutes a week. Make sure and include a link back to your site following your answers.

10) Set up a social networking site using Facebook, LinkedIn, or Squidoo. It’s free and easy to do, just don’t forget the all-important link back to your site!

11) Make sure your blog has an RSS feed so if you capture a reader you don’t lose them if they forget to bookmark your site or blog.

12) Join relevant groups at Yahoo groups. You’ll find everything from groups on growing your small business, writing books, finding your passion, even underwater basket weaving. I dare you to find one that isn’t right for what you’re promoting. When you do find the right group, join and participate as you can!

13) Podcasting is another great way to drive traffic. Start a podcast by going to Audio Acrobat. There are other programs you can use, but I love Audio Acrobat. You can record the podcast over the phone quickly and easily and then hit the “send” button on your computer once it’s recorded and the system will syndicate it to 27 podcast directories including iTunes. It’s a great way to let people know about you and your web site!

14) Start a blog and then once you do, start commenting on other people’s blogs, linking to them from your site or adding them to your blogroll.

15) Inbound links: don’t squander your time (or a perfectly good link) on smaller low-traffic sites. Instead spend your time going after high traffic, high quality sites. Good sites should have a PR (page ranking) of 4-6 depending on the market. You can find out what a site’s page ranking is by downloading the Google toolbar which comes with a PR feature built in.

16) Start an email newsletter: while it may not seem like a newsletter that you email can drive traffic to your site you’d be surprised at the effectiveness of this type of promotion. If your newsletter (like your articles) is interesting and relevant to your audience, you’ll find that it has a huge pass-through factor, meaning that it is passed from one email subscriber to another. Also, if you have an email newsletter you should never, ever go to a single event without your handy signup sheet. Yes, you can even use offline events to drive traffic to your web site.

17) And speaking of offline efforts: if you’re ever quoted in a magazine or other publication, make sure and mention your URL as it’s appropriate to the topic. Don’t be too pushy about this, but do not forget to tell folks you have a web site that may be a great resource for the topic of your interview.

18) If you have products to sell, why not get a store on eBay? This site gets a tremendous amount of traffic and on your sales page you’re allowed to list your URL. It’s another great way to get an inbound link and a way for people to find you.

19) Load a video on YouTube and 57 other video sites (the rest listed on my Red Hot Internet Publicity blog).

20) While this isn’t a tip per se, it’s still important. If you’re going to go through all the trouble of getting traffic to your site, make sure your site is converting this traffic into something. Get folks to sign up for something, your newsletter, the RSS feed on your blog. Whatever it is, getting their email address will help you remarket to them when the time is right. Studies show that visitors landing on a site often don’t buy the first time. That’s ok! You want to get them into your marketing funnel so you can market to them again and again – not in a way that’s obtrusive, offensive or downright annoying, but in a way that is helping them with their own mission.

An example of this might be an email newsletter. A helpful, informative newsletter is a fantastic funnel. A blog is another great way to keep people in your marketing loop without bombarding them with “please buy my stuff” email messages. Also, make sure you know what your traffic numbers are before you launch into any Internet marketing campaign. By traffic numbers I mean how many people are visiting your site. You want to know this so you can gauge a before and after view of your marketing efforts.

Okay, it is easy to start a blog, you can just register at any free blogging platform, and start posting in your blog. However, your blog will be useless if you have no traffic at all. It is very difficult to get the initial traffic for a new blog because your new blog has little content, and of course you will not be able to optimize you blog for certain keywords to get high ranking in Google, if you do so, your content will look spammy, and Google does not like this at all. You can check out more about SEO for a blog in my precious post : How To Increase Traffic To Your Blog. So, how can you get the initial traffic for a new blog? That is the sole question of all new started blogs, and here, I am going to give some tokens of advice.

The easiest way to get some traffic in the beginning is to write a couple of articles which are very interesting and attracting. The articles can be very bizarre, or humorous, everyone likes this kind of articles. Make sure that the post title is stunning and is able to catch attention. By writing these articles, you will get the people to read your entire articles, if they like your posts, they will of course return in the future. So, you will get more returning visits in the future.

The best place to promote your interesting and attracting articles as aforementioned is at social media such as Digg, Stumble Upon, Technorati, Reddit, Netscape, Propeller, Del.icio.us et cetera. You can use this http://socialposter.com/ to submit your posts to these social media. Again, make sure that your title is very interesting, only by doing this, people will visit your blog to read that particular post. Of course, most people will say that traffic from social media is useless because people will only stay at your site or at your blog for 1 second, then they will leave. However, I would like to tell you the truth that if your articles are genuine and interesting, the people will definitely stay and continue reading. People who are usually complaining that social media does not provide good traffic is because they are providing duplicated or boring articles. I would not want to read boring articles, so do the visitors.

Lastly, make sure that you install social bookmarker plug in and ask your visitors to bookmark the articles as a gesture of support if they like your articles. By doing this, your visitors are actually helping you to promote your blog in other social media. The more people who bookmarked your blog, the more exposure your blog will receive, which will ultimately generate more traffic in the future.

In conclusion, social media is indeed a very good place to get the initial traffic, however make sure that your articles are interesting enough to attract these people.

Blogs are perfectly designed for people who love to read, browse, and search for a certain topic or subject.

Articles have played a vital role in increasing traffic in most blogs. However, with the numerous articles, people do not actually spend their time reading the whole article. Most of them scan and skim over it.

It has been found out that only sixteen percent of the readers and users read the article for research purposes and resource materials. Only a few people read the articles word for word.

The remaining seventy nine percent of those who search for articles scan it. What they actually do is find interesting topics, paragraphs and sentences to use as resource. They look for good keywords, which can be used to generate other articles.

The real essences of the articles are not appreciated as they are and the worst is that they use it for some purposes. However, this has been the trend especially in generating blog traffic.

However, there is an exclusion regarding this matter. Some tests have shown that readers and surfers have mostly viewed most of the articles that have been well written and well researched.

Articles that have average content and form are often viewed for scanning purposes only. These types of articles are not mainly used as a resource.

Most of the average written articles are easy to scan for keywords and are sometimes highlighted in a different color or font.

Now, the question is, how will a reader consider an article informative and readable? What does it take, for an article to be considered important and resourceful?

Here are some useful tips that you might want to consider in writing effective articles and increasing traffic to your blog:

Applying sub-headings can be meaningful. Keep in mind that these sub-headings should be more relative and more clever. Making it cute and catchy will drive the reader to read through your article. Keep it enjoyable and strive to get the attention of the readers.

Using bullets is a smart way to attract readers and increase web traffic to your blog. Articles with bullets or numbers are a lot more easier to read instead of lengthy paragraphs.

Some of the readers may get bored by just looking at long and wordy articles. So, to make it more readable, keep it short and brief.

It would be more pleasing if you use short and snappy bullets. Do not add twisting statements that will point to nowhere. Readers may not find your article pleasing.

As much as possible, you should try to have one idea of subject for every paragraph that you are writing. Users are looking for a good and readable article, which will keep them hooked on to your articles. Your readers will take more time and interest in reading the whole content of your article.
Your readers may go deep in reading your article if they find striking phrases and sentences at the beginning of each paragraph. Try to come up with phrases that are worthy to be given attention.

Credibility is considered one important key in making your article effective and stunning. Having a good web traffic for your blog can be possible if your content stands out among the hundreds and thousands of blogs competing.

We all know that the web service is the ideal way to get information for a specific topic. If your article is good, try enhancing it with the use of graphic designs. It will give a stronger attention and can show proof that your blog is of good quality.

Now with all the articles that you have read so far, you might have encountered an article that contains implied promotions concerning their products and services. Most of them will claim that their products and services are top-rated than any other product in the world.

It is up to you to decide whether to boast your services and products or not.

What is important is that you get the attention of your readers and keep them still in reading your articles to get the real thought.

Increasing blog traffic will always go for having unique, original articles that are worth your time.
